The Comptroller General of the Republic - CGR presented a special report on mining in Colombia, warning of environmental damage that is causing illegal gold mining in the basins of the rivers Dagua (Valle del Cauca), and San Juan (Chocó).

Dagua River has erosion, undermining their margins and loss of protective vegetation cover. In addition to other situations that cause landslides and flooding.

In the San Juan River activity illegal gold mining no studies estimating the environmental and forests are destroyed by logging. Conditions that accelerate erosion, increased sedimentation and cause loss of navigability.

The study notes that the illegal exploitation of minerals in the Chocó is performed without technical studies and without any environmental restrictions.
